NAU ITS rolled out various tech updates in the fall semester of 2020 to prioritize the health, wellbeing, and education of our lumberjacks during the COVID-19 pandemic. We teamed up with Verizon Wireless to install 5G towers across the Flagstaff Mountain Campus. 5G is the fifth generation technology for cell phone networks that provide increased download speeds, connectivity, and capacity. 5G networks are capable of downloading data at 10 times the speed of previous 4G networks. This makes Flagstaff one of the first and only mountain towns in the nation with 5G service.
NAU is hard at work to make sure that our Lumberjack community and those around us have the tools they need to succeed and stay connected. With the transition to remote working and learning, it is vital that we provide fast and reliable wireless service to our Lumberjack community.
