Throughout the school year it can be easy for your desktop to get cluttered. While dropping files on your home screen is convenient for quick placement of downloads, it does not ensure the safety of those files. In the instance that there is a problem with your system, your scattered files are not backed up and are susceptible to being destroyed.

Additionally, it reduces the performance of your device, which is essential during your college experience at Northern Arizona University. All of the previews on your desktop will temporarily be placed in your computer’s RAM storage, which contributes to the minimization of it’s speed.

So What Can You Do?

Unfortunately, just like spring cleaning, you just have to sit down and organize your files into specific folders.

  • Start off by right clicking, or control+click, a blank area of your desktop
  • Once your tabs pop up, click the new folder option
  • Name your file and then press enter

You have now made a new file and can drag your scattered images into it. While the process can be tedious, there are ways to get creative!

Below are some fun templates to use as a wallpaper for your desktop, that way the new folders you made can be dragged into these sections.
