Los Angeles, 2020, a 24-year-old wakes up at 8 a.m., she works at 9 a.m. Los Angeles locals know if this girl wants to get to work in time, she needs to get a move on, but she will likely not make it with the amount of traffic. The story is the same around the world, Shanghai, Chicago, New York, Tokyo, Delhi, São Paulo, Mumbai, and Beijing. These are some of the busiest cities in the world. What if the 24-year-old can wake up at 8 a.m. every day, have breakfast, read some articles, and still make it to work on time?

The only way this is possible is if there is perfect traffic everywhere, with no delay. How would this be possible? With 5G.

Autonomous, self-operating vehicles could create a perfect system for large, busy cities, and the only way for them to work is online connectivity with less than a millisecond load times. Fortunately, humans have strived to improve the systems they have relied on for years, which has led us to 5G.

What is 5G?

The 5th Generation of network connectivity. 4G upgraded, by 20 times. 5G will handle a drastic upgrade in bandwidth and the number of devices in a given area. According to Raconteur, 4G can handle 4,000 connected devices per square kilometer, 5G can handle upwards of 1 million devices at a time.

Potential Impact of 5G

There is countless potential in a society with bandwidth speeds from 5G. With super speed connections, human technology can operate to it’s highest potential. Not only are phones faster, but artificial intelligence (AI) is smarter, streaming is clearer, and devices that wouldn’t usually have network connections are integrated into the new world of 5G.

Telemedicine will grow rapidly with wearable technology, doctor visits over streams, surgeries are done remotely, improved technology in medical devices, and new preventable measures for diseases.

Automated vehicles can either be controlled remotely or AI will be developed for driverless vehicles. This is where the 24-year-old will benefit. A perfectly controlled traffic system will cut down wait times and reduce human-made accidents, reducing deaths by millions.

Streaming networks will be amplified, and live events can fully operate. A completely cordless camera live streaming to thousands of viewers will be easier than the current system. New angles during football games, camera directly following racers in Formula 1, and a live feed of fish in the sea. These are all just the beginning of the potential from 5G.

There are endless possibilities for technology in the future when we develop and grow into 5G. The possibility of flying through a futuristic city is not very far off!

Why Security for Your Information is Important?

With 5G, we must understand that not everyone hopes to use this new technology for the betterment of society. Risks are surrounding the integration of network systems into modern civilization. The protection of the data we place online is incredibly important.

Why? Why must we be so inclined to protect the data we place online? Numerous factors play into the reasoning, but it all boils down to safety. Online data poses a risk to not only users but also organizations and the mass amount of customers.

By being safe, users are ensuring the functionality of organizations that utilize the online sector. Users are also protecting the data within an online organization. Millions of other users and their private, sensitive information are at risk. When we all browse safely and securely, we contribute to the safety of companies and their countless users.
